How to use the drill bits correctly

Important: Put on eye protection, our safety goggles with item number 11448 are suitable for this. If you use the drill bits frequently, we recommend that you use a vacuum cleaner (item 11988).

  1. The desired core bit is screwed directly onto the mounting spindle (14 thread). We recommend that you leave the inner flange on the spindle as this will make it easier for you to remove the dry core bit later.

  2. Now place the core bit at an angle to the material. The penetration into the material itself is done step by step in gentle circular movements until the core bit has finally penetrated the material completely.

  3. Drill the hole evenly and without pressure, reduce the pressure if there is visible sparking!

  4. Overheating should be avoided if possible. The harder the material, the lower the pressure must be and the longer the cooling phase should be.

As soon as hard and thick materials are involved, it is advantageous to let the workpiece and tool cool down in between, especially for small drill bits with a diameter of less than 50mm. Here, a high temperature often develops very quickly due to the low mass.

When drilling glazes, you should be aware that chipping can occur at the edge of the hole and be clearly visible.

Karl Dahm has been promising the best quality for 65 years. Therefore, our goal is also to provide you with the best products.

This goal is reflected in the positive returns of our products and services. We would like to thank you for your loyalty.
