Meaning:
You need tension straps when laying a tile. However, this process is only possible with the use of tile wedges and levelling pliers from Karl Dahm. The levelling system ensures that the tile is laid at the correct level.
Application:
- First of all, you should always make sure that your substrate is well prepared and completely level.
- When laying the tiles, the tension straps come into play first, they are inserted under the joint. After you have embedded the tile, gradually push the wedge through the flap and fix it with the tongs until the surfaces of both tiles are at the same level.
- After the tile adhesive has hardened, knock off the tab with a hammer in the direction of the joint (please use a rubber mallet to avoid damaging the joint and tile, art. 11565) or knock it off with your foot. Always break off the flap along the joint to ensure the break at the predetermined breaking point and to avoid chipping at the edge of the tile.
- Afterwards, the surface is grouted, the base plate of the levelling system tension straps remains under the tile surface in the tile adhesive and should not be visible anymore.
- A difference in height is not to be expected if the bedding is sufficient. In the case of large-format tiles it is recommended to use the buttering floating method. This means applying tile adhesive to the substrate, e.g. with a 12-tooth system and a contact layer on the underside of the tile with a 4-tooth system.
- As soon as the joints have dried, the tiled floor can be cleaned as usual.
