CM moisture analyzer Classic
The CM moisture meter protects you from expensive complaints later on.
Before tiles can be laid, it must be ensured that the screed is dry enough. This is where CM measurement comes into play. This method enables the residual moisture in the floor to be determined quickly and easily.
What is the CM measurement?
The CM measurement (calcium carbide method) is based on the reaction of calcium carbide with water. This reaction produces acetylene, the pressure of which is measured using a manometer. The residual moisture of the screed can be calculated based on the pressure.
Advantages of CM measurement:
- Quick and easy: The measurement can be carried out in just a few minutes.
- Accurate results: CM measurement is a very reliable method for determining residual moisture.
CM device - no complicated conversion required!
Materials required:
- CM device
- Calcium carbide ampoules
- Safety goggles
- gloves
- hammer
- chisel
- spatula
- Scales
CM device - contents of tool case:
- Digital scales up to 150 g
- Weighing beaker (2 pieces)
- Tool set - complete for sample preparation
- Ball set with 4 steel balls
- 25 carbide ampoules
- 3 test ampoules with 1.00 g water for pressure gauge and leak test
- 3 replacement seals each for pressure gauge and pressure bottle
- Spoon and cleaning brush.
CM Device - Technical data:
- Pressure gauge mechanical, non-rotatable
- Accuracy class: 1.6
- Measuring range: 0 to 1.6 bar
Step-by-step instructions:
1. preparation:
- Wear safety goggles and gloves.
- Remove loose coverings from the screed.
- Mark the measuring point.
2. sampling:
- Using a hammer and chisel, knock a piece of screed out of the floor.
- The sample should weigh approx. 50 grams.
- Crush the sample with a spatula.
3. measurement:
- Place the crushed sample in the CM device.
- Place the calcium carbide ampoule in the device as well.
- Close the device tightly.
- Wait a few minutes until the reaction is complete.
- Read the pressure on the manometer.
4. evaluation:
- Based on the displayed value, you can read off the residual moisture of the screed in a table.
- The table can be found in the instructions for use of the CM device.
Tips:
- Carry out the CM measurement at several points on the screed.
- Repeat the measurement if you have any doubts about the result.
- Follow the instructions for use of the CM device.
Conclusion:
The CM measurement is a simple and reliable method for determining the residual moisture in the screed. Tilers and craftsmen should know and use this method to ensure that the screed is dry enough before laying the tiles.
